Hey, Mira is not the TabletPC. Mira is the dumb terminal idea. You know, put a big PC in your closet, put in a network (wireless, of course) and then put a bunch of stupid screens that can talk to the server. Stupid idea because hardware prices are so freaking low anyway (and, is it really much cheaper to build a Windows CE device than a Windows XP one?). On November 7 Microsoft will bring out the Tablet PC which is a far better idea. You don't need to be near your "super server." You can surf at the local Starbucks with one of these. See http://www.tabletpctalk.com or http://www.tabletpcbuzz.com for more. As for Netscape: they had an inferior product. Now, it took Microsoft $500 million to get their and they broke the law getting there, but there's a reason most of us don't use Netscape anymore. But, yes, never bet your house on Microsoft doing one thing.

Sorry ... I wasn't clear at all with my pointer to http://www.denounce.com/wontget.html The point that I clearly failed to post above is that Microsoft hasn't been trustworthy for years ... if ever. So much so that years ago a competitor actually ran a "Won't Get Fooled Again" Campaign. I run Microsoft free 95% of the time and haven't used Netscape for a couple of years at least. I don't plan to go back to either and encourage others to do the same. Apparently there are three kinds of computer customers, those who "Won't Get Fooled Again", those who will get fooled again and again (large numbers in this sample) and those who aren't fooled but apparently feel that Microsoft's tatics are an acceptable.
